Another superb volume。 Again I'm reading this as someone who has seen the entire anime adaptation beforehand but that hasn't dulled the manga's impact for me in the slightest, despite knowing at least the general direction and tone of the story。 Visually Parasyte Vol。 2 continues to be well drawn and composed as the first volume was, and the story continues to be well paced and fleshed out with engaging characters。 I really have no criticisms to give。I'm also especially enjoying the Q&As with Iw Another superb volume。 Again I'm reading this as someone who has seen the entire anime adaptation beforehand but that hasn't dulled the manga's impact for me in the slightest, despite knowing at least the general direction and tone of the story。 Visually Parasyte Vol。 2 continues to be well drawn and composed as the first volume was, and the story continues to be well paced and fleshed out with engaging characters。 I really have no criticisms to give。I'm also especially enjoying the Q&As with Iwaaki that occasionally pop up between chapters。 。。。more

Migi is probably my favorite character so far! Like the development of Shinichi, he’s getting tougher but not to fast。 Still don’t think that interesting of a character yet though。。。 Let’s see what he becomes in the future。

This book was definitely darker than the first one。 The end really had me about to cry。 I don’t want to give anything away, but parasites infecting brains of characters we know in the book is painful and sad。 I wouldn’t say it stuck with me in a way like Silent Hill or some other dark psychological horror would, but I was definitely sitting there yelling “NOOOO” a few times。 This series really gives me superhero vibes。 Like parasite superheroes haha。 The ones in the brain vs the ones that messed This book was definitely darker than the first one。 The end really had me about to cry。 I don’t want to give anything away, but parasites infecting brains of characters we know in the book is painful and sad。 I wouldn’t say it stuck with me in a way like Silent Hill or some other dark psychological horror would, but I was definitely sitting there yelling “NOOOO” a few times。 This series really gives me superhero vibes。 Like parasite superheroes haha。 The ones in the brain vs the ones that messed up and ended up somewhere else。 I still love it so much but I think I’m in for a few more gut punches before I finish the series。 。。。more

3,5 estrelinhas。 apesar de ter uns pontos bem pesados, não é tão bom quanto o primeiro。 o protagonista tá passando por umas mudanças sem perceber e a comunicação dele com os outros fica super de lado。 mas sigo ATENTA

I consider myself a total fan of this manga。 It is totally worth every minute I spent reading Parasyte。 The details from the changes of Izumi’s personality and how you can identify if a person is controlled by a parasyte is amazing。 Loving it so far。 I hope I can buy every volume of thus manga。Highly, highly recommended!

The second volume of Parasyte mostly ignores a lot of the set-up of the first volume, and trades in some of the philosophizing for some blunt emotional trauma。 While Hitoshi Iwaaki continues to flesh out the parasites, how they operate, and what exactly they can do, the focus of the volume is very much on teenage Shinichi Izumi and his mental state。 He worries about how much of him he is losing to the parasite, and whether he can continue living like this or if he's become a monster himself。 The The second volume of Parasyte mostly ignores a lot of the set-up of the first volume, and trades in some of the philosophizing for some blunt emotional trauma。 While Hitoshi Iwaaki continues to flesh out the parasites, how they operate, and what exactly they can do, the focus of the volume is very much on teenage Shinichi Izumi and his mental state。 He worries about how much of him he is losing to the parasite, and whether he can continue living like this or if he's become a monster himself。 There isn't as much creative battle or character design as the first volume, but the fights themselves are more interesting and follow an arc that gives them greater emotional depth。 The characters themselves also emote better and you can tell that the mangaka has started to nail down the style he wants for them and figured out their core personalities。 Volume 2 is a great next step in the series and finds some much-needed character focus coming off of the first volume。 It constantly treads the line between goofy fun and gripping thriller, making for a quick and entertaining read。 。。。more

I loved the second volume a bit less than the first one because something happened and the characters were just "ok" when they shouldn't have been just ok。 But I will of course continue with it! A great series that is at once both an easy read that remains absolutely gripping throughout, while still posing some extremely deep and existential questions about what it means to be both a human and a creature of Earth, as well as analysing the way that we look upon and treat other species, and the way that we ourselves may be looked upon, whether that be the fellow creatures of our planet that we have lived alongside for thousands of years, or potential alien species, such as in this case - A great series that is at once both an easy read that remains absolutely gripping throughout, while still posing some extremely deep and existential questions about what it means to be both a human and a creature of Earth, as well as analysing the way that we look upon and treat other species, and the way that we ourselves may be looked upon, whether that be the fellow creatures of our planet that we have lived alongside for thousands of years, or potential alien species, such as in this case - the invading parasites。 It also takes a look at societal constructs and human behaviours towards our fellow man, whether this be empathy or savagery, and Hitoshi Iwaaki presents a great variety of diverse and developing viewpoints throughout, the writing genuinely makes you stop and ponder these ideas at many moments across the series, while never presenting anything as strictly right or wrong。 This sense of ambiguity that is present throughout is especially true of the story's conclusion, which has left me in an extremely philosophical state for days afterwards (of course this is especially aided by the current environment of self isolation in which almost everyone is at home with a lot of time to think), I'm glad that Iwaaki remained consistent in his ability to let the reader think for themselves from start to finish, and this is one of the reasons "Parasyte" is such a successful piece of work。I would certainly recommend this series to most readers, especially anyone into manga of any kind, the concept is very interesting, and although there is a common "us vs。 them" / "good vs。 evil" style conflict in this story between the parasites and humans, the ideas presented here go much, much deeper。 The relationship between the main protagonist, Shinichi, and the parasite, Migi (who lives in his right hand due to a failure to take control of Shinichi's brain), and their ensuing struggles to understand each other, as well as their respective species', is really where the story shines。 Their relationship, obviously a very unique one, is developed extremely thoughtfully and believably throughout the narrative, and due to the nature of the relationship between them this almost forces the reader to confront the grey area that fills 99% of the landscape between "good and evil" (or humans vs。 parasites), and to look at things from different perspectives。 Personally I find the grey area in pretty much any discussion to be the most interesting, because nothing in life is ever truly black and white, good or evil, right or wrong - so when we force ourselves to delve into this grey area and take a look at other, possibly conflicting viewpoints, as "Parasyte" most certainly does, this helps not only to broaden our horizons, expand our thought processes and develop our opinions, but it can also help us to better understand ourselves as humans and as individuals, and anything that can achieve that is a success in my eyes。 。。。more

I really like how the story is developing, and i was not expecting the way it was going! 4 stars!

Zian B。

More of a 3。 star rating but gave it 4 stars because this volume was much more interesting than the first volume。Poor Izumi went through a lot throughout this volume。 He made a few allies but lost his mother as well as going through a drastic change with Migi moving within him。 I’m very curious about the 3rd volume and interested to see what else happens to him。

I did not like this quite as much as the first volume, but it is still pretty strong。 There are a couple big things that happen, which will make the continuing story interesting。

Its good way better than the anime he seems like less of a wuss in the manga plus overall he seems more interesting in this chapter he seems more emotionless because on the parasyte which is really interesting and complex like hes becoming a parasyte?Im excited to read the next manga from this great author。

The teaser in the last volume was intense, and this mostly delivered。 I wanted to feel a bit more for the characters, but I like the direction it went in。 A slight qualm is that all these 90s gang bois look too similar。 It's hard to tell who's who。 A funny bit I liked was the grandpa thinking he was a Yakima member。 Long recounts and thoughts:Our hero MC tries to fight some dudes beating up Nagai, but gets beat up。 Did he do that cuz he's different or to prove to himself he's still selfless and The teaser in the last volume was intense, and this mostly delivered。 I wanted to feel a bit more for the characters, but I like the direction it went in。 A slight qualm is that all these 90s gang bois look too similar。 It's hard to tell who's who。 A funny bit I liked was the grandpa thinking he was a Yakima member。 Long recounts and thoughts:Our hero MC tries to fight some dudes beating up Nagai, but gets beat up。 Did he do that cuz he's different or to prove to himself he's still selfless and human?Kana is part of this bully team and sees something animal in Shinichi that scares her。 They just looked like normal eyes to me but okay sis。Kane's people beat him up and take his gf (just friend, but love interest)。But I guess there's gangs and Nagai shows up with more people and they're okay。His mom comes home and he's in denial until he stabs his heart。 And then Migi tries to save the body。 Eventually he wakes up and accepts that his mom being gone isn't just a nightmare。Goes to where his dad is in a hospital and stays with Makiko, a girl he met on the way。Damn girl ever heard of consent? Don't just pull up someone's shirt。Met Uda Mamoru。 Cries a lot。 But is similar to him in that only part of him (his mouth) was taken over by the parasite。Apparently Kane has some sort of 6th sense for Shinichi。 Her ex is jealous and tried to best him up again, but guess what? Shinichi is stronger and acting weird and is not match for him。 But it's not only his strength, his personality is more aloof and he has more confidence。 Satomi has asked him if he really is Shinichi multiple times now。 She has intuition, but continues to be around him。 And it looks like he's changing。 。。。more

This volume expands a little, as we see other human/parasyte hybrids, including a guy with a Parasyte jaw。 There's also a pretty dark happening with a major character。The whole talking hand thing turned me off in the first volume, but in this volume I do admit it started to grow on me。 Er, no pun intended? The whole human/parasyte as a team is sorta neat when the human side makes the pair more altruistic。In any case this is a pretty decent read but I doubt I continue with the series anytime soon This volume expands a little, as we see other human/parasyte hybrids, including a guy with a Parasyte jaw。 There's also a pretty dark happening with a major character。The whole talking hand thing turned me off in the first volume, but in this volume I do admit it started to grow on me。 Er, no pun intended?
